Mite Bust Dust – (Diatomaceous Earth) 3kg

Diatomaceous Earth is a ‘fossil shell flour’, or better known simply as DE and is a 100% organic product .

Diatomaceous Earth consists of fossilized remains of diatoms, a type of hard-shelled algae, that is found as a soft, siliceous, sedimentary rock that’s easily crumbled into powder form. The powder has an abrasive feel, similar to pumice powder & is very light due to its high porosity.

How does it work?

The powder damages pest insect’s protective shell on contact causing it to slowly dehydrate & die. Pay particular attention to nooks & crannies, crevasses, perches & nesting areas, as this is where mites like to hide in the darkness.

How to use:

After thoroughly cleaning an infested coop, Mix into a thick paste with water and use a small brush to paint over joins and gaps.  Dust DE in and around bedding and nesting areas,  Severe infestations may require additional control methods in conjunction with DE.

No egg, meat or food withholding periods.

DE deposit is up to 95% amorphous silica. As well as being very high in silica percentage it also contains 15 essential trace minerals including phosphorous, selenium, calcium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, copper, zinc and iron. Silica alone is in fact crucial to bones, tendons, skin, cartilage and blood vessels. Silica exists in the blood stream and important organs such as the liver, heart, and lungs. Silica won?t build up in the body as it is water soluble and easily absorbed by the intestinal wall and rapidly excreted.

DE can also be sprinkled into your household carpet in light and even doses. Leave for a couple of days before vacuuming. Be cautious with the application, as it is very fine, too much has been reported to clog certain vacuum cleaners.

This product is perfectly safe to use not just in animals housing, but can be used with all animals for the control of lice, fleas and most crawling insects such as ants & cockroaches. Also useful in the home on mattresses to protect against bed bugs, on carpets and around the edges of vegetable gardens as a slug and snail deterrent.
